From: Captain M.L. Kesling
I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for your dedication, devotion, hard work and respect shown our city and community in making the 2005 Black Heritage Festival an even bigger success than years past.
I truely enjoy the weekend festivities and you can see from all those that attend the times spent at the festival were joyous and peaceful. From religion to history, there is something for all. And when you watch those in attendance you can see respect, pride, and honor in action. Younger people calling people by Mr. or Mrs., yes, ma'am, no sir, older people being respected by the young, it is an example that a lot of people can learn from and I truly appreciate it.
You have proven you can have a spectacular festival for all to attend free of looking over your shoulder worrying who might do this or who might do that and having heartfelt good times without any alcoholic beverages. You have set the example of heritage in a festive atmosphere. Please continue to take pride in your history and well desreved honor for what you mean to yourselves and the people of your/our city. For all that I truly and sincerely thank you for all of us.
Looking forward to next year.
